Difficulty Level = Easy
Age = Kindy - Year 2
Duration = 1.5-2 hrs
Sustainability = 5/5 starsStep into the world of paleontology as students dig, discover, and investigate like real scientists! Through hands-on stations, they’ll excavate fossils, analyze dinosaur tracks, explore prehistoric plants, and determine what dinosaurs ate based on their teeth. This interactive incursion encourages critical thinking, observation, and problem-solving, making science fun and engaging for Kindy to Year 2.
EYLF:
Learning Outcome 2 – Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
Learning Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners.
Learning Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators.
Australian Curriculum F-10:
Science Understanding:
ACSSU030 (Year 2) – Earth’s resources, including fossils, are used in a variety of ways.
Science as a Human Endeavour:
ACSHE013 (Foundation – Year 2) – Science involves exploring and observing the world using our senses.
ACSHE022 (Year 2) – People use science in their daily lives, including when caring for the environment and living things.

This more in-depth course centered around the creation of Bee and Bug hotels, helps students engage with the idea of what makes a healthy habitat and that all creatures need a home. Students will learn about some of the critters in our back yard and how they help our ecosystem thrive. They will then create a bug hotel that is designed specifically for their favorite garden creature.
EYLF:
Learning Outcome 2 – Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
Learning Outcome 3 – Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
Australian Curriculum F-10:
Relevant Year Levels: Year 1–3
Science: ACSSU073 (Year 2 – Understand that living things grow, change, and have offspring similar to themselves)
Geography: ACHGK021 (Year 2 – The interconnections between people and environments)
Difficulty Level = Easy
Age = Year 2+
Duration = 1 - 1.5 hrs
Sustainability = 5/5 starsIn this incursion students will be transported to a desert island where they must use their bag of landfill bound materials to solve challenges. Competing in groups, students will be tasked with creating nessicary objects to support them in their life on the island. Can they turn an old t-shirt into a sun smart hat? How can they build a shelter or a usable garden bed? When resources are scarce, nothing is garbage.
